A young Mid Canterbury worker has been flown to hospital after a farm accident.

Emergency services were called to a farm on Ashburton Staveley Road just before midday on Monday.

A police spokesperson said the worker’s leg had been trapped in a feed-out machine.

Hato Hone St John sent a helicopter, an ambulance, and a first response unit.

A St John spokesperson said the worker was flown to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.

WorkSafe confirmed it had been notified and was making initial enquiries.
