Work to complete SH1 renewal in Ashburton

Work to complete SH1 renewal in Ashburton

NZTA contractors are returning to complete the renewal of State Highway 1/East Street in Ashburton later this month, which will mean additional traffic measures in place over several nights.

From September 28, on the stretch of road from north of the Ashburton Bridge to the South Street intersection, there will be stop/go traffic management in place on SH1 northbound, SH1 southbound and for South Street, from 8pm to 6am Sunday to Thursday.

A 30km/h temporary speed limit will also apply in the affected work area.

These measures will end at 6am on Thursday October 9.

Road users should expect increased congestion and delays of up to 10 minutes travelling through this area.

This traffic management will allow work on the third and final stage to resurface the road, following on from stages 1 and 2 completed earlier this year.
