The new public car parking area next to Te Whare Whakatere will have a 120 minute limit.

The earthquake-damaged 87-year-old red brick Cavendish Chamber building was demolished to make way for the car parks for Te Whare Whakatere, Ashburton’s new library and civic centre.

The car park leads to the gated secure area for councillors and the executive team but also has 10 public car parks.

To avoid people using it as long term parking option the council decided to make it a restricted parking area, settling on the 120 minutes.
