Solar farm not open to visitors
The construction company building a large solar farm at Lauriston is installing additional signs to keep out unauthorised visitors.
Beon Energy Solutions compliance and sustainability manager Kirsten Lee said a number of buses with unauthorised visitors had attempted to access the site recently and go for a tour, but the solar farm was not open to the public.
“Although we’re glad that there is such interest in the project from the local community, this is an active construction site and only authorised personnel are allowed access, as stated on the signage at the gate.
“A construction site of this size comes with a large number of hazards, that people not familiar with the site will not be aware of.”
She said Beon was committed to keeping everyone safe and was installing additional signage to ensure access restrictions are clear for those passing by.
The solar farm is a joint venture between Genesis Energy and FRV Australia.
