Have you got your nominations in yet?

We're a few days in to the Guardian's Heart of Ashburton awards campaign, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive so far.

It's fantastic to see people are so keen to get behind the campaign, which is all aimed at celebrating those who help make our community the great place it is.

We're extra grateful to our sponsors, who have come on board to recognise champions in their respective categories.

Those categories are the Braided Rivers Community Trust Volunteer of the Year, Rangitata MP-elect James Meager's Act of Kindness award, Ashburton Club & MSA Sports Personality, Advance Ashburton's Junior Achiever (under 19), Cartrights Insurance and Mortgage Brokers Lifetime Achievement award, and the Jeff Donaldson PGG Wrightsons Rural Champion.

We also need you to come to the party, Mid Canterbury. It's so important to get your nominations in to us, so we don't miss the chance to recognise any of our unsung community heroes.

Nominations are now open, and will close on December 3. They can be emailed in to the Guardian at [email protected], or you can fill out the form in today's Guardian and either drop it into us, or post it to us.

Make sure to put the name of the person you're nominating, and why you think they should be one of our winners.

A panel of judges will then consider all of the nominations and pick the winners. They will then pick a Supreme Winner from the six winners.

So come on Mid Canterbury, let's support our amazing local legends.

It takes just a couple of minutes to get a nomination in, which is nothing compared to the hard yakka our nominees put in on a regular basis.

And thanks again to those who have already submitted nominations - you're all contributing to making these awards a success not only this year, but for years to come as well.
