The Ministry of Health is confident the Northland Covid-19 community case came directly from the Pullman Hotel and there is no missing link.
In a press conference this afternoon, Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield confirmed the strain of Covid-19 in the case is from the new South African variant.
A decision was made to delay the release of 46 people from the Pullman Hotel, Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins said.
They will be tested again before being released.
Hipkins said those released since the 56-year-old woman left MIQ were being contacted.
Bloomfield said there were six new cases of Covid-19 in managed isolation today and 15 people were being treated as close contacts of the new case.
