Chill Fest Brings the vibes - and a boost to Methven Primary's playground
The Methven community turned out in force for this year’s Chill Fest, held at the Bike Methven jump park, with the event raising $9,000 towards a new accessible playground at Methven Primary School.
Funds from gate sales and donations will go directly towards creating a space designed so all children can play, connect, and thrive – regardless of ability.
Methven Primary School principal Angela Furndorfler said the support was invaluable.
“We’re incredibly grateful.
“This generous donation from Mt Hutt brings us another step closer to creating a space where every child can feel included, supported and free to play. It means so much to our school and our families.”
Mt Hutt Ski Area’s head of marketing and events, Richie Owen, said supporting local initiatives was part of the mountain’s culture.
“Methven is more than just our base – it’s our whānau.
“The support we get from this community is unreal, and Chill Fest is our way of bringing everyone together to celebrate the season and pay it forward,” Owen said.
Chill Fest 2025 featured live music, food trucks, slope-side entertainment, and a festival atmosphere that brought plenty of laughs, hugs, and dancing.
Plans are already underway for next year’s event Owen said.
