Hammers score home victory

Mid Canterbury held out a determined West Coast side to take the points in their Meads Cup match today.

While the home side opened up a good lead early, the visitors from the Coast just wouldn’t go away, and kept themselves in the game, although just outside the seven-point strike zone.

The Coasters brought a powerful forward pack over, but many of Mid Canterbury’s points came from counter-attacks after mistakes from the visitors’ backline.

Final score 36-29, with the Coasters kicking a penalty right on the buzzer.
