The Santa Express, also known as the JA 1260 locomotive, was decked out for Christmas and offering rides for steam train enthusiasts at the Plains Vintage Railway and Historical Museum's Christmas open day on Sunday.

Ashburton Railway and Preservation Society (ARPS) president Lorayne Oakley said the day was a success, despite the weather.
