A frightful fundraiser
Staff from Tamar Beef and St John will be in costume at the Maize Maze on the Methven Highway for the first Friday horror night.

Be prepared to get scared.

A spooky fundraiser is set to bolster the coffers of St John this weekend.

A horror night is set to be held at a maize maze maze through Tamar Beef's head-high maize field at 2390 Methven Highway.

The maze opened last weekend and continues this week, with the first horror night on Friday.

The horror maze kicks off at 8.30pm and runs to 10.30pm. Staff from Tamar Beef and St John youth will be in costume and lurking in strategic spots to add to the spooky and scary atmosphere.

"Bring a torch and be prepared to be scared," Chrissie Wright, from Tamar Beef, said.

She said the maze had a great first weekend with lots of positive feedback. Almost 300 people gave it a go last weekend.

For those who don't enjoy the adrenalin rush of ghouls, ghosts and other scream-worthy creatures, the maze will also be open from noon to 4pm on Saturday or Sunday. Entry is $5 for those aged 12 and under and $10 for those older than 12. A sausage sizzle, ice blocks and cold drinks will be available (cash only).

All proceeds from the maze will go to St John.

Weekend maze walkers can also enter the competition for a chance to win a $100 Tamar Beef pack. To enter you'll need to jot down 10 coordinates in the maze. Entry forms are available at the entrance, but you will need to bring your own pen.

Tickets cost $10 (cash only) for the horror maze.
